The Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

In this role you will be supporting the Real Estate and Finance teams to support and deliver the Real Estate and Finance group's BD strategy for Australia, grow profitable revenue and improve the practice's brand and market position.

In this interesting and varied role, you will be responsible for:

  • Support Work-Winning Efforts: Collaborate with Real Estate and Finance BD teams to prepare pitches, bids, and client materials, either by leading the process or contributing content.

  • Maintain BD Infrastructure: Lead initiatives to manage credentials, pitch materials, and databases (e.g., Foundation, Quoros), ensuring accessibility and usability across the practice.

  • Coordinate Global Requests: Respond to internal and global BD team requests for credentials and experience to support firm-wide submissions and strategic projects.

  • Manage Submissions & Reports: Oversee directory and award submissions, and assist with reporting, research, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

  • Drive Collaboration & Initiatives: Partner with Marketing, Communications, and Events teams on campaigns and thought leadership, while contributing to broader firm-wide projects and promoting a safe, respectful workplace.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 3-5 years' demonstrable experience in a business development role with particular experience in pitching and developing high quality written content;

  • An undergraduate degree in marketing, commerce, business or related discipline;

  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the different practice areas, sectors and markets within Real Estate and Finance is desirable. Ability to quickly gain an understanding of the overall business of Real Estate and Finance essential;

  • Project management skills as well as experience in managing pitches and bids;

  • Demonstrated sound organisational, planning, delegation and project administration skills;

  • Proven ability to think ahead, understand and manage priorities and stakeholders and work under pressure to meet deadlines;

  • Enthusiastic, proactive and strong work ethic with a willingness to accept ownership of and follow up on tasks without prompting;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Professional and commercial approach to business, with ability to work independently as well as part of a wider national team;

  • High level of personal integrity, initiative, and collegiality.

Our Business development team works alongside our partners and lawyers across our sectors, services and offices to support and develop our relationships with clients, delivering an exceptional service and exploring new avenues through which we can help them meet their business needs. Our brand, marketing and digital team help position us as thought leaders amongst our target markets in the areas we most want to be known for, by creating intuitive and engaging collateral, events and campaigns.

As part of the business development team, you will play a hands-on role in contributing to the firm's success and helping to achieve its objectives. This could be as one of our business development professionals, coaching partners on relationship building, or building our brand as one of our marketing, design or events professionals.
