The Manager of Recreation Services leads a team responsible for Lords Recreation Centre, a high performing and much-loved community asset. This role sits in the Development Services directorate, working closely with Cultural Services; Economic Development and Place; and the Planning branches in delivering important services which help in improving community health and wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic leader with a passion in community wellbeing outcomes. Ideally, we'd love you to understand community values and the regulatory environment of recreation centres and local government.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead and manage the Recreation Services branch in the delivery of services consistent with the City's strategic objectives.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of Lords Recreation Centre.
- Prepare, implement, and review operational plans/protocols to ensure Lords Recreation Centre meets the objectives of the users and the community.
- Adhere to all City of Subiaco policies and relevant legislation including Public Health Regulations and Occupational Safety and Health legislation.
- Shape, monitor and report on annual budgets (operational and capital) ensuring financial sustainability and cost effectiveness.
- Drive commercial outcomes by overseeing membership options, program development (e.g., group fitness, sports leagues), and facility/venue hire bookings to maximise revenue.
- To develop and implement preventative and reactive maintenance programs in accordance with best practice asset management principles to maintain Lords Recreation Centre in a suitable condition.
- Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:
- Tertiary Qualification in Recreation, Leisure, Physical Education or demonstrated equivalent competency and experience in the field
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate others.
- Sound planning, program and project management expertise with a continuous improvement approach delivering innovative initiatives.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to introduce, lead and manage organisational change.
- Demonstrated ability to transform strategic concepts into practical outcomes.
- High level customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound understanding of work, health and safety requirements and relevant legislative requirements.
Salary package:
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025,this position is classified as a Level 10 with a competitive salary of $175,000 per annum.
