See yourself working here
We are seeking a skilled Legal & Conveyancing Specialist to join our team in delivering the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). This role is responsible for managing all legal and transactional aspects relating to property acquisition, access rights, and compliance throughout the lifecycle of the project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely and effective land access while balancing the needs of landowners, local communities, and project delivery teams.
In this role, you will manage the disposal and acquisition of property interests, including leases, licences, easements, and rights of carriageway or access. You will be responsible for reviewing contracts associated with the acquisition of various property rights and providing legal insights to support strategic decision-making. An important part of the role involves investigating and reporting on how various statutes impact land access and the project's broader property requirements.
You will assist with landowner engagement and property negotiations, helping to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and facilitate timely access to land. Coordinating access requests, notices, and enquiries with landowners, project teams, and subcontractors will be a critical responsibility. You will also oversee the implementation of, and adherence to, the client's Property Management Plans by subcontractors and third parties.
Liaising with government departments, councils, and other external stakeholders will be necessary to ensure that their expectations are understood and incorporated into project processes, while remaining compliant with the organisation's direction and governing legislation. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date property records and site-specific documentation and for participating in regular project meetings with clients and subcontractors.
What you bring to the role
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude and alignment to our core values.
We are seeking a candidate with tertiary qualifications (diploma level or higher) in a relevant discipline such as Conveyancing, Law, or Real Estate Contracts. These qualifications will support the successful applicant in managing the legal and transactional aspects of property work.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the property sector, with a strong background in both property/legal management and conveyancing. Prior exposure to property transactions and compliance, particularly within the electricity power industry or a similar infrastructure-related field will be highly regarded.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. The ability to confidently present, represent, negotiate and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with both internal stakeholders and external parties is crucial.
Applicants should possess a sound understanding of the legal aspects of property transactions, with the capacity to analyse a broad range of property-related issues and provide informed, practical advice. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as experience with property and/or project management software, is also required.
We are looking for someone who can effectively prioritise competing demands, demonstrating strong time and resource management skills to consistently meet deadlines and organisational expectations. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is also essential.
Those with knowledge of NSW Land Registry Services NSW, Property laws & statutes (mainly but not limited to Conveyancing Act & Real Property Act, Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991, Electricity Supply Act 1995, Electricity Network Assets (Authorised Transactions) Act 2015, Native Title Act 1993 & Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983) will be highly regarded.
