Operating from 21 offices across 9 countries and delivering projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we are committed to redefining possibilities in complex projects and challenging environments.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our Brisbane team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned HSE professional to contribute to world-class safety practices within a dynamic, corporate office environment while maintaining engagement with site-based activities through project mobilisation and travel.
About the Role
As a Senior HSE Advisor, you will collaborate closely with project managers, study teams, and site personnel to embed exemplary health, safety, and environmental practices across all project phases within the APAC Region.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with project teams to identify, assess, and mitigate HSE risks during project studies, Front-End Loading (FEL), and pre-mobilisation phases.
- Leading the development and review of HSE risk assessments to ensure robust safety frameworks.
- Overseeing pre-mobilisation HSE activities to ensure compliance with documentation and safety requirements for seamless project transitions to site.
- Aligning project scopes, client requirements, and Ausenco's internal HSE management systems to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
- Developing and implementing tailored HSE management plans, including emergency response and environmental management strategies.
- Supporting contractor management processes, including prequalification, early engagement, and interface coordination.
- Fostering collaborative relationships with project teams, contractors, and global stakeholders to promote a unified safety culture.
- Providing pragmatic, solutions-oriented HSE guidance to project leaders across study, execution, and site phases.
- Leading incident investigations using the ICAM methodology and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Occasional travel to our Perth and Newcastle offices and clients' sites.
About You
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- 7–10 years of HSE experience within EPCM, construction, mining, or oil and gas projects.
- A minimum of an Advanced Diploma in Health and Safety.
- Formal ICAM training with demonstrated experience in incident investigations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EPCM delivery models, project risk assessment, and contractor management.
- Proven site-based HSE experience, with the ability to translate insights into effective corporate and project support.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, build relationships, and adapt to diverse audiences.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online HSE management tools.
- A pragmatic, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
