Senior Aboriginal Client and CSO

  • Location – Bourke (Aboriginal Services Unit within Northwest NSW Region)

  • Salary – $99,398 pa - $110,271 pa plus employers' contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

Your role

Empower Change in Aboriginal Communities

In this key role, you'll provide culturally safe support to Aboriginal clients, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and mentor team members. You'll help lead initiatives that improve justice outcomes and reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal people in the justice system.

What you'll do

Make a real impact by supporting Aboriginal clients and families in Bourke's court system. Use your cultural knowledge and community connections to help create a more inclusive and respectful justice environment.

  • Provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal clients and families in court
  • Help clients navigate court processes and connect with essential services
  • Work with court staff and community partners to foster a culturally safe space
  • Represent the Aboriginal Services Unit locally, advocating for better outcomes
  • Deliver meaningful programs through strong community engagement and collaboration

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with strong cultural knowledge, community connections, and experience supporting Aboriginal clients.

  • Effective communicator and trusted relationship-builder
  • Understanding of court processes and referral pathways
  • Committed to culturally safe and inclusive practices

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:

Confirmation of Aboriginality form

or

Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
