The Highlights:

The Look and Feel Specialist is responsible for the daily prop and scenery operations, repairs, and seasonal creations at Bluey's World. Working predominantly back of house, ensuring proper care is taken when handling props and scenery while maintaining a thorough inventory of items. You will support the delivery of a world-class visual experience through skilled scenic painting, prop maintenance, and creative problem-solving to maintain the high-quality aesthetic standards of Bluey's World. This position requires expertise in scenic arts, painting techniques, and prop fabrication, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will contribute to maintaining the immersive environment that brings Bluey's World to life for visitors.

Specific Responsibilities

Coordinating with Production Management Team

  • Work closely with Production team to install look and feel elements at the venue and on-site locations
  • Support Production team with maintenance of scenic and props elements
  • Ensure seamless integration of all elements using Look & Feel guides and brand guidelines

Scenic Painting & Finishing

  • Mix paint to match design specifications with precision and consistency
  • Paint, form, and decorate scenery using designs and renderings as inspiration
  • Work with various types of paint and materials, including wood, steel, foam, plastics, and fabric
  • Apply paint using multiple techniques including brushes and rollers, rags and texture tools, spray guns and airbrushes
  • Determine techniques for effective and efficient execution of paint treatments and applications
  • Research new materials and techniques to fulfil designers' concepts and maintenance requirements
  • Construct and maintain scenery from design and construction specifications as directed
  • Prepare and apply printed and coloured vinyl to various surfaces
  • Install and maintain flooring including carpet, vinyl, and other floor coverings
  • Install and maintain signage, props, and furniture
  • Perform sewing of fabrics for soft goods and prop elements
  • Conduct daily maintenance and safe storage of painting and decorative equipment
  • Maintain and repair props and scenery to preserve their appearance and functionality

Inventory and Logging Management

  • Assist in conducting equipment inventory and ensure all materials are labelled correctly
  • Help collect data and create lists of materials used, paint colours used, and items required for repair and maintenance
  • Maintain a functional and organised repair space
  • Continuously assist in creating a comprehensive repair and maintenance manual for the season
  • Label equipment, assets, and set pieces for smooth operations and asset protection

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Coordinate with venue and site teams to ensure a safe and world-class experience
  • Support other departments with look and feel elements as required
  • Collaborate with other departments on integrated scenic and with look and feel installations
  • Support basic carpentry tasks related to scenic construction
  • Assist with site build activities directed by the site management team
  • Support lifting, carrying, painting, and installation of site infrastructure, décor, and furniture

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $35.15 – $49.21 per hour
