The Wardrobe Specialist is responsible for the daily costume & laundry operations, repairs and creation under the directions of the Production Operations Manager and Experience Production Manager. Working predominately back of house, ensuring proper care is taken when handling garments and maintaining a thorough inventory of items. Use textile/sewing skills to perform repairs, stitching, treat spills and understand how to treat fabrics with differing care instructions. Upholding the high standard of costume presentation, garment hygiene standards and cleanliness. Working closely with cast and adhering to dressing room etiquette. Organisation of laundry supply inventory and waste disposal, communication to all departments and awareness of the vital timings in the venue, experience and events held. Regular stocktaking consumable supplies and requesting orders in a timely and efficient manner.

General Duties

  • Represent AKM, HVK, Bluey's World, and all critical stakeholders, focusing on adhering to

and executing the production schedule.

  • Wear uniform provided, present as clean, neat and tidy.

  • Adhere to high Work Safety standards in line with WHS Legislation.

  • Report any risks promptly to the Front of House Manager or Site Supervisor.

  • Install and use Deputy scheduling app.

  • Arrive promptly for shifts, sign in/out diligently.

  • Act professionally and respect fellow colleagues, patrons and venue infrastructure.

  • Follow procedures set out by the Production Operations Manager & Experience Production

Manager

Specific Duties – Wardrobe Specialist

  • Attend to daily laundry tasks
  • Follow event schedules efficiently
  • Ensure correct waste/recycling disposal,
  • Work to pre-opening and closing procedures and participate in scheduled deep cleaning days.
  • Complete repairs to costumes and puppets as requested by Management
  • Create seasonal items including but not limited to; fabric props, soft toys and mascot accessories
  • Research, design, pattern and create requested costume accessories and props from
  • Production Operations Manager and Experience Production Manager
  • Provide specialist knowledge and experience with repairs, design, pattern making and creation of costumes and accessories

Customer Service

When in public spaces, act in a professional manner to ensure a top-level image for Bluey's

World.

Hold a thorough understanding of the experience and venue, to provide correct information

and directions.

Report customer feedback to help improve operations and customer satisfaction.

Wardrobe Operations

  • Work on your feet during shift. Wardrobe tasks may require kneeling, crouching, work on ladders and in tight spaces.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills, staying informed of the experience schedule, costume deliveries, and staff transitions.
  • Maintain log of wardrobe inventory.
  • Maintain a well-organised inventory and communicate to Production Operations Manager / Experience Production Manager when purchasing is required.
  • Do not mix chemicals or products; avoid chemical hazards.
  • Ensure correct labelling of supplies.
  • Ensure proper handling of products/equipment in accordance with the manufacture label. If any doubts, seek assistance before continuing.
  • Wear all appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) when handling hazardous products and using equipment.
  • Apply signage to any hazards to avoid workplace incidents.
  • Coordinate the efficient laundering and caring for costumes, maintaining a well organised back of house wardrobe area.
  • Under instruction from Production Operations Manager / Experience Production Manager undertake costume repairs when required.
  • Operate doors, gates, stairs, fences, move furniture and equipment and carry items throughout shift. Seek help for heavy lifting and work within your abilities, adhering to safes work practices.
  • Work with actors/actresses in dressing rooms and follow dressing room etiquette.
  • Respond to all radio calls addressed to the Wardrobe promptly.
  • Contact manager whenever unsure or in need of assistance.

Technical Proficiency

  • At times, wear and efficiently communicate through a 2-way radio with earpiece.
  • Utilise a workplace WhatsApp chat.
  • Proficient in MS Office

Communication and Collaboration

  • Follow procedures and protocols set out by the Production Operations Manager and Experience Production Manager to ensure wardrobe operations are consistent day by day.
  • Attend and contribute to Wardrobe Supervisor & Manager meetings to have open communication on the department's operations and development.
  • Coordinate efficiently with other departments as needed.
  • Understand health and safety procedures and relay any new information to the team.
  • Immediately report hazards, incidents, security concerns, maintenance requirements and/or other issues that arise.
  • Participate in administration tasks assigned by the Production Operations Manager / Experience Production Manager.
  • Communicate any workplace and HR concerns to Production Operations Manager and discuss solutions.
  • Thoroughly handover to co-worker/s at shift change.
  • Represent the Bluey brand with diplomacy, discretion and courtesy at all times.
  • Talk with discretion and respect when referring to the event, sponsors and partnerships.
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, supervisor/s and Management to ensure smooth operations during shifts and uphold a strong team network.
  • Endeavour to bring a positive and approachable attitude to your work and interactions whilst on shift.
  • Undertake any other task reasonably required for the smooth running of Bluey's World Brisbane.

  • Make informed decisions regarding shift extensions and task allocation for Wardrobe when

Production Operations Manager and Experience Production Manager are not onsite

  • Attend to daily laundry tasks

  • Follow event schedules efficiently

  • Ensure correct waste/recycling disposal,

  • Create and enforce pre-opening and closing procedures and participate in scheduled deep

cleaning days.

  • Supervise and assist the Wardrobe Assistants with all wardrobe/laundry duties, including but not limited to;
  • Using laundry machines,
  • Handwashing specific items,
  • Drying garments/items,
  • Hanging costumes,
  • Moving clothing racks,
  • Transporting laundry batches to appropriate departments,
  • Ironing & steaming,
  • Stitching/sewing, repairs.
  • Reporting additional repairs
  • Deep cleaning of garments,
  • Stocktaking and ordering consumables,
  • Restocking laundry consumables,
  • Maintaining inventory of costumes and Experience items,
  • Deep clean machines and hardware.

  • Provide wardrobe team with a clear rundown of daily tasks/changes etc.
  • Assign roles to Wardrobe Assistants fairly and answer their questions.
  • Maintain efficient organisation of staff breaks, in accordance with the Award.
  • Be present for shift changeovers and available for staff questions.
  • Coordinate the efficient laundering and caring for costumes, maintaining a well organised back of house wardrobe area.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $33.38 – $49.21 per hour
