The Australian Golf Club is a private Member's Club located in Rosebery. The Club is the oldest Golf Club in Australia, having been originally founded in 1882. The Club prides itself on its history and tradition and expects excellence in service delivery to the Members.

As a team our goal is to provide our members with an exceptional golfing and hospitality experience, while aiming to provide a collaborative and caring environment for our team members to work in.

The role

We are looking for an experienced bar supervisor to work with us on a permanent full-time basis, Ordinarily, shifts will vary in length between 11am - 7.30pm and will include weekend work. Extensive wine and liquor knowledge is essential for this role.

This is a great role for someone with strong customer service skills, who can build positive relationships with our members and guests. Your main responsibilities will centre around providing first-class customer service to our members and guests, including:

  • Manage bar service in the Locker Room and Carvery areas, including food and beverage delivery.
  • Promote wine sales and organise liquor / wine tastings, attend to take-out wine requests, liaise with suppliers and update wine lists with new product / stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of bar areas.
  • Ensure opening, closing, and lock-up procedures are followed (Wednesday to Sunday).
  • Support function setup and service and assist in the Carvery Bar when needed.
  • Perform general duties as requested by Club Management.
  • Supervise and train food and beverage employees in the Locker Room, aligning with the Australian Golf Club's customer service standards and processes.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate employees to make sure members and guests are served efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional and high level of service for members and guests.
  • Ensure all member charges are accurately recorded.

Qualifications & experience

  • Good Wine knowledge from previous restaurant/bar experience is essential for this role.
  • Previous experience in as a hospitality or events in a supervisor position, and  previous experience in a Golf Club is highly advantageous.
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
  • A solid understanding of WHS.
  • Barista experience and training is essential.
  • Experience using POS machines for billing purpose.
