An exciting opportunity exists for highly motivated, passionate and qualified applicant to apply for the Head of Department - Technologies / Industrial Design & Technology position at the newest secondary school on the Sunshine Coast at Palmview. Located centrally on the Sunshine Coast just 10 minutes from
Mooloolaba. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2026 until 10 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Palmview State Secondary College is co-located with Palmview State Primary School and Palmview State Special School on the corner of Peter Crosby Way and Village Green Boulevard, Palmview. Together the three schools make up the Palmview Learning Community, a unique educational precinct offering students and families access to a highly personalised educational experience. Our staff are supported to harness the professional opportunities for collaboration across all phases of learning and the expertise of colleagues in each of the schools.

About the Role:

As Head of Department - Technologies / Industrial Design & Technology you will be joining a team of highly skilled curriculum leaders, shaping the foundations of our College Senior Pathways as we introduce Year 11 in 2026. This is an opportunity to shape the learning culture of our digitally rich new school and empower personal bests for our first graduates in 2027.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide strategic leadership by developing and promoting a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes and a future-oriented approach.
  • Promote equity and inclusion by embedding socially just practices and upholding high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through active engagement in lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Build strong partnerships with students, families, community groups, and government agencies to support student success.
  • Effectively manage resources and compliance by overseeing human, financial, facility, and curriculum assets while ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and policy.
