Your day to day will consist of

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of cyber controls across network platforms.
  • Conduct internal assessments, audits, and compliance reporting aligned with regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop method of procedures (MoPs) and platform-specific documentation.
  • Review technical specifications to ensure alignment with Cyber Security Policies and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage regulatory compliance activities including TSSR notifications and external audit support.
  • Create functional security designs for emerging technologies such as 5G, OSS, and data platforms.
  • Act as a cybersecurity consultant across Network programs and governance forums.
  • Prepare dashboards, executive summaries, and reports for senior leadership and stakeholders.

What you bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Australian cybersecurity frameworks including ISM, Essential Eight, TSSR and CIS.
  • Experience with ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, and enterprise risk management practices.
  • Experienced in end-to-end ETL pipeline development with Alteryx and Python, and dashboard creation with Tableau and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure, operational technologies, and telecommunications environments.
  • Proficiency in security technologies such as SIEM, VPN, WAF, EDR, patch management, and cloud platforms.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical security solutions and functional designs.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present to executive audiences.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or SABSA are highly regarded.

  • Competitive remuneration and employee discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with $80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and unique shopping discounts with our retail partners.

  • Flexible working arrangements with opportunities to work three days in the office, two days remote or home.

  • Vibrant and collaborative office campus that includes cafes, convenience store, chill out zones, GP, post office, gym and on-site childcare centre.
  • Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected' days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever's important to you.
  • We support growing families with inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.
  • Direct your own development and build future-ready skills with Optus U's industry-focused micro-credentials, developed with La Trobe and Macquarie Universities.
  • Build meaningful connections through employee-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
  • Put your wellbeing first with free access to counselling and support services, 24/7 — in-person, by phone, SMS, or video.
