Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Stone Axe Pastoral Company Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Stone Axe Pastoral is a vertically integrated Wagyu beef business with a clear purpose - to produce the finest quality Wagyu beef from paddock to plate.

We are committed to excellence in animal welfare, performance, and sustainability. Our premium Wagyu brands are recognised globally for their consistency, quality and provenance, underpinned by world-class production systems and a values-driven culture.

As our Feedlot & Supply Chain Coordinator you will be responsible for leading and optimising the flow of Wagyu cattle across the full supply chain. A true end to end role, you will own the optimisation of backgrounding, feedlot induction and finishing, feedlot/backgrounding‐supplier relationships and performance, commodity/ration management, transport and logistics, data capture & compliance, carcass feedback and strategic forward planning of herd flows and network footprint (feedlots & processing).

Working as a strategic partner, you will define and drive value-add opportunities that create cost efficiency, productive kilos, reduces kilometres travelled, and embeds sustainability into the chain. You will partner with our on-farm Operations team to support compliance, data collection and SOP implementation. You will be instrumental in the creation of the "ideal network" of backgrounding, feedlot and processing footprint to meet budget and market requirements.

Location and Working Arrangements

This role is available in a hybrid capacity and can be fulfilled from Brisbane or surrounding areas. You will be expected travel frequently to our network of properties and partner feedlots across the East Coast, and occasionally to Western Australia. We are establishing an office in Brisbane and you will need to attend regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop strong partnerships with custom feedlots and backgrounding suppliers across eastern and western Australia.
  • Oversee feed and nutrition programs, animal health, data traceability, and compliance with NLIS, LPA QA, and ALFA standards.
  • Lead herd flow and network planning to improve efficiency, reduce travel kilometres, and align supply with market demand.
  • Analyse performance and drive continuous improvement in feed efficiency, animal outcomes, and sustainability metrics.
  • Support live/cull animal sales and identify value-add opportunities across premium and niche markets.

About you

  • Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or Agribusiness (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience in feedlot, backgrounding, or beef supply chain management; Wagyu experience highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of feed and nutrition programs, data analysis (ADG, FCR, carcass metrics), and supplier management.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to drive operational excellence and long-term value creation.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across farms, feedlots, and processors.

Why join us?

  • Work directly with a premium, vertically integrated Wagyu business producing world-class luxury beef.
  • Join a small, high-performing team where your contribution genuinely shapes outcomes. You are not just another cog in the wheel.
  • Enjoy autonomy, influence and variety across backgrounding, feedlot and processing operations.
  • Be rewarded with a competitive salary package, company vehicle and staff product discounts.
  • Be part of a values-led company that cares deeply about animal welfare and long-term sustainability.
  • Collaborate with passionate people who are building one of Australia's most respected Wagyu supply chains.
