Within the Venue & Event Services Department, our Event Operations team plays a crucial role in planning and delivering every major event at the MCG. From AFL blockbusters and international cricket to community and charity events, we bring together thousands of moving parts to create safe, seamless, and memorable event experiences.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Event Manager to join this high-performing team on a
12-month fixed-term contract (with the potential to extend)
. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Event Operations, this role oversees and leads the end-to-end planning and delivery of major events at the MCG, ensuring operational excellence and an outstanding experience for all who attend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and management of all operational aspects of major events within the stadium and in Yarra Park as required by the AFL, tenant clubs, Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia, BBL and other venue hirers.
  • Take ownership of designated events and conduct pre-event and post-event debriefs, noting all follow-up actions and ensuring completion.
  • Be the primary liaison for designated clubs and hirers and build collaborative and responsive relationships with all stakeholders and hirers.
  • Prepare event-specific documentation including event management plans, contact lists, event information, task lists and schedules.
  • Task assignment within designated event project groups which may include representatives from Ticketing, Workforce, Commercial Operations, Safety, Security & Precinct, Facilities and Membership & Heritage to ensure all is in order for event delivery.
  • Work as a Senior Event Manager on event day (subject to training and previous venue experience) in accordance with roster

To be considered for this position, you will need the following:

  • Business degree or graduate of Venue Management School highly regarded.
  • Experience in a stadium or involvement in the management of large-scale events would be preferred.
  • Previous experience dealing with major stakeholders such as the Australian Football League and/or Cricket Australia is an advantage.
  • A clear commitment and understanding of MCC customer service habits and how these contribute to providing great service on event day.
  • Ability to problem-solve to a significant degree of complexity under time pressure.
  • Decision-making skills demonstrated by the ability to make informed decisions calmly, quickly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with either Ticketmaster or Ticketek ticketing systems is an advantage
