Provide strong leadership and high-quality course delivery of the Doctor of Medicine project component as a Senior Lecturer within Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Health.

About the Position

As the Senior Lecturer – MD Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for the academic leadership, coordination, and delivery of the MD Project component within the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. This role will oversee student research and scholarly activities, contribute to curriculum design and implementation, and ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment aligned with AMC (Australian Medical Council) standards. The role will collaborate with partner health services in the NT to develop a range of MD projects that contribute and add value to the delivery of health and health outcomes in the NT.

CDU is the only Northern Territory (NT) based university and as a place-based regional university, it is deeply embedded in our local communities and commences delivery of the new Bachelor of Clinical Sciences / Doctor of Medicine (BClinSci/MD) 5-year undergraduate MD medical program in 2026 that is tailored specifically to the needs of our local community. The purpose is to establish a medical program at CDU to graduate and retain more First Nations and local resident doctors in the NT to serve the NT community. The admissions process positively selects for NT First Nations and NT resident students knowing that students drawn from local communities are more likely to remain in those communities when they graduate.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

  • A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in medical or health education and research, including curriculum design and teaching in an MD or similar program.
  • Demonstrated experience in student supervision and mentoring, particularly research or scholarly projects.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, cultural safety and the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education and practice.
  • Evidence of a strong research track record
  • Proven leadership and coordination skills within an academic or clinical education context.
  • Understanding of medical program accreditation requirements (e.g., AMC standards).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level C. The base salary will be in the range of $134,128 - $156,967 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $156,929 - $183,651 per annum, including 17% superannuation. The University has approved a 3.3% salary increase, which will come into effect in October 2025.
