About the team

Capital Markets & Syndicate ("CM&S") within Global Markets is responsible for originating, advising and the execution of primary market debt financings for clients across the government, semi-government, SSA, financial institution and corporate sectors globally. Working closely with Coverage, Fixed Income Sales & Trading and Risk, CM&S fulfils the debt origination function in addition to linking between various partners to drive new primary market debt transactions.

About the role

Our Documentation Management team partners closely with our Origination and Syndicate teams to make sure everything runs smoothly once a deal is underway - from preparing documentation to coordinating settlement for debt market transactions in Australia.

This role offers the chance to work with a variety of people; clients, banks, lawyers, and colleagues across the business, and to gain a strong understanding of how a capital markets transaction comes together from start to finish.

You'll be part of a supportive team that values attention to detail, collaboration, and a proactive mindset.

Please note: While this is a full-time position, we're open to a job-share arrangement, with each candidate working three days per week if we find two suitable applicants.

What you'll be doing

Transaction Coordination:

  • Manage the process from start to finish for capital markets transactions
  • Be the main point of contact between teams such as Origination, Syndicate, Legal, Compliance, and Settlements
  • Help ensure deals are completed accurately and on time

Documentation & Legal Support:

  • Work with internal teams, lawyers, and clients to prepare and review transaction documents
  • Make sure all documentation aligns with market standards and CBA guidelines
  • Support the smooth execution of all legal and regulatory requirements

Settlement & Compliance:

  • Oversee post-trade settlement activities in partnership with our Settlements and Operations teams
  • Ensure all documentation is finalised before deals close
  • Keep accurate records and support audit readiness

Regulation & Market Updates:

  • Stay across new regulations and market changes
  • Work with Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to update processes when needed
  • Contribute to maintaining best-practice compliance standards

Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Explore opportunities to make our processes simpler and smarter
  • Help integrate AI and automation tools to improve efficiency
  • Be part of a culture that encourages continuous learning and innovation

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have taken a career break of two years or more (essential)
  • Have experience in banking, law or financial markets, particularly in areas such as legal, compliance, documentation, or operations
  • Bring a solid understanding of commercial legal documentation – including drafting, negotiation, and execution
  • Have a good grasp of debt market products (such as bonds, loans, and derivatives) and the related documentation
  • Demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
