MS SQL Server DBA – Azure – upgrade Experience
Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation: Plan, implement, and maintain Azure SQL databases, ensuring optimal design and configuration.
Security: Ensure data integrity and security by implementing robust security measures and compliance with data regulations. Ensure that security measures are in place to protect sensitive data throughout the upgrade (encryption of data at rest).
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve database-related issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
Capacity Planning: Perform capacity planning and demand forecasting for database systems to anticipate future needs.
Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance during and after the upgrade, including tuning SQL queries and indexing strategies specific to Siebel applications. Monitor database performance, perform system tuning, and optimize SQL queries to ensure efficient operation.
Backup and Recovery: Implement robust backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data during the upgrade process.
Collaboration: Work closely with Siebel developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to coordinate the upgrade process and resolve any issues that arise.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitor the upgraded database for performance issues and apply necessary patches and updates
Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
Documentation: Document the upgrade process, including any changes made to the database schema, configurations, and performance optimizations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Expertise in Azure SQL: Deep understanding of Azure SQL Database services and features.
Expertise in SQL: Proficiency in SQL Server and Azure SQL services.
Knowledge of Cloud Platforms: Understanding of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions on Azure Cloud.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and other MS-SQL administrative tools.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, Client Infrastructure team(s) , and other stakeholders as necessary.
