Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne is looking for an energetic, motivated and proactive Handy Person to join our maintenance team on a full-time permanent basis. You will be joining a team who takes pride in the work they do and who takes on the responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the maintenance needs of the building.

The successful person will have proven experience in working autonomously as well as part of a team and the ability to problem solve. In return you will be part of a supportive and fun team, with many great perks.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Carry out and complete all maintenance work/requests and ensures high quality of work
  • Have sound knowledge of a range of general handywork such as plastering, plumbing, carpentry, pool and painting
  • Ability to liaise with Hotel Manager regarding use of contractors within the hotel, controlling expenditure and ensuring work is to the standard required by the company and manufacturer specifications
  • Ability to handle and maintain all power tools
  • Carry out work and preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner
  • Have exceptional eye for detail, ensuring all rooms and public areas are presented to a high standard
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with contractors
  • Maintaining occupational health and safety requirements by ensuring that work is carried out safely and securing all areas of work at all times

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as required. Flexibility is highly valued, and the role offers pay above Level 3 of the HIGA Award.
