We're Hiring – Part-Time Administration & Competitions Coordinator
Based at Trinity Ford Stadium, Aumuller Street, Cairns

Cairns Basketball Inc. is seeking a proactive and organised Part-Time Administration & Competitions Coordinator to support the smooth operation of our basketball programs and office functions. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate team and make a meaningful contribution to community sport in Cairns.

About the Role

Reporting to the Competition Manager, this role involves a blend of general administration and hands-on competition coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing office tasks, supporting some competition nights, and assisting in the delivery of quality experiences for our members.

Key Responsibilities

General Administration:

  • Front desk and reception duties – greet visitors, answer phones and respond to email enquiries
  • Manage venue bookings and room hire requests
  • Maintain accurate data entry and digital/physical filing systems
  • Process member registrations and maintain up-to-date records
  • Assist with preparation of meeting documents and basic reporting
  • Monitor compliance registers and internal documentation
  • Support administrative needs of management and basketball program staff

Competitions Coordination:

  • Assist with scheduling, draws, and results management for domestic competitions
  • Liaise with clubs, referees, coaches, and volunteers
  • Provide on-site support during competition nights – setup, enquiries, and troubleshooting
  • Administration of Senior comp night.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience in administration or office support
  • Excellent organisation, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Availability for 1-2 weekday shifts 2 evening shifts, with flexibility for occasional weekends
  • A positive, community-focused attitude and willingness to learn

Preferred:

  • Bookkeeping or data entry experience
  • RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Experience in a sporting organisation or not-for-profit setting
  • Familiarity with Basketball Connect or similar systems
