AustEx is at the forefront of the mining sector, specialising in the design and manufacture of exploration drilling rigs and associated equipment. Our core services include conceptual design, research and development, drafting, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and repair.

In the 15 years we've been in business we've gone from strength to strength to land where we are now, a company with well-established projects and a large pipeline of work with major clients throughout the mining industry.

And now we're excited to invite our next team member to join us. We're looking for our next Purchasing Officer to join us as we grow.

  5. 45 to 60 hrs. per week available with attractive penalty hourly rates.

Main job tasks:

  • Daily purchasing for workshop staff.
  • Co-ordination of delivery driver daily runs.
  • Delegate receivals to correct location or supervisor.
  • Assist with procurement / ordering for workshop projects as required.
  • Maintain PPE stock levels and re-order (gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs etc.).
  • Maintain employee work clothing levels and register (shirts, boots, overalls, jackets, jumpers etc.).
  • Maintain gas stock levels and re-order (argon, oxy / acetylene, fork-lift gas).
  • Maintain nuts, bolts and washers stock levels, re-order and put away into racks.
  • Maintain hydraulic fittings stock levels, re-order and put away into racks.
  • Maintain all other consumable stock levels (paint, thinners, sanding / grinding disks, tape rags, etc.).

Other duties:

  • Maintain and perform weekly waste disposal checks (general waste, recycling, steel, waste oil, hydrocarbons and timber bins).
  • Maintain fitting tool store stock levels (drill bits, taps etc.), monitor and alert workshop manager if excessive use is noticed.
  • Arrange angle grinder repairs, maintain register to issue new or repaired grinders.
  • Investigate best pricing / discounts as required.

Required skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft products including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with MYOB or similar.
  • Forklift ticket (desirable but not necessary).
  • C-Class car license (desirable but not necessary)
