Job Description

Due to continued growth, MLG is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Purchasing Officer to join our Inventory and Purchasing team. Reporting to the Purchasing Team Leader, the position includes:

  • FIFO roster from Perth: 9 days on, 5 days off (9/5) or 8 days on, 6 days off (8/6) a permanent full-time role
Responsibilities
  • Raising purchase orders for materials/equipment required at the project
  • Monitoring and following up purchase orders, communicating with suppliers
  • Managing daily receipt and purchasing of goods, their storage and issue resolution
  • Ensuring timely and accurate administration and maintenance of purchasing services, and workload management of storage areas
  • Negotiating with suppliers, providing advice to onsite staff, and reviewing supplier performance to maintain adequate supply levels on a Just-In-Time basis
Supply Officer Responsibilities
  • Maintaining stock, conducting stock takes and managing stock holdings
  • Ensuring activities comply with HSE rules and correct storage/handling of hazardous materials
  • Managing deliveries of freight and loading/unloading on site (Forklift licence and experience essential)
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and company policy
  • Participating in continuous improvement of purchasing and store/inventory practices
  • Analyzing usage trends and generating reports to inform planning and purchasing decisions
  • Developing relationships with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to facilitate efficient delivery
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Australia-based candidates
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Purchasing/Stores officer or similar
  • Crushing experience is highly regarded
  • Current and valid C Class Driver's Licence (essential)
  • HRWL Forklift Licence (essential)
  • Strong customer service, communication and negotiation skills
  • High computer literacy with experience using purchasing/inventory systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screen
  • Ability to pass security screening (National Police Clearance, etc.)
