Now, we need a Payroll Specialist to keep our team happily paid .

The Role

Working 4 days per week, the Payroll Specialist will manage the payroll function for the business and act as a point of compliance for statutory and legislative requirements related to the payment of wages, benefits, and expenses. This role will develop and implement payroll system procedures and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute the timely and accurate delivery of wages and associated statutory charges.

Day to Day:

Planning and Management of Payroll

  • Manage an effective, efficient, and accurate payroll process ensuring high level of data integrity
  • Provide advice to managers and respond to enquiries from employees
  • Develop system enhancements to support key performance objectives
  • Manage the reimbursement of employee expenses

Checks and Controls

  • Develop stronger controls across the payroll process
  • Monitor compliance with company and/or Business Unit policies
  • Ensure all payrolls are reconciled prior to finalising a pay run
  • Incorporate legislative changes into procedures and manuals

Auditing / Compliance

  • Regular auditing of payroll processes to ensure accuracy
  • Support audits in PAYG, Payroll tax, Superannuation, etc.
  • Implement procedures in line with statutory and legislative updates
  • Action audit recommendations both internal and external

Payroll Projects

  • Provide prompt payroll assistance on special projects including due diligence, acquisitions, and development activities
  • Constantly review payroll procedures, reports, and methodologies
  • Develop and implement a Payroll reporting framework, plus adhoc reporting as needed
  • Support modelling of remuneration, benefits, shift, or other employee relations changes

Who You Are

  • Strong understanding of all relevant legislations, ATO regulations, FBT & Superannuation legislation
  • Preferred knowledge/experience with Tanda and Xero
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to work across multiple industrial instruments and contract agreements
  • Ability to assess and guide future payroll developments

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in high volume FMCG, retail, or a closely related industry is preferre
