About Tea-cup Cottage

Founded in 2010, Tea-Cup Cottage began as a way to provide choice and control over disability support services for families. Their mission is to enrich the quality of life for people with disabilities, helping them live independently with a trustworthy helping hand when needed.

An NDIS-registered disability support provider, Tea-Cup Cottage assists children and adults with disabilities across Southeast Queensland and Toowoomba. The organisation delivers a full suite of services including short-term accommodation, in-home support, community access, day programs, Supported Independent Living (SIL), and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

Tea-Cup Cottage has a strong culture built on loyalty, family-first values, continuous growth, wisdom, and curiosity. The organisation values teamwork, personal development, and operational excellence while supporting sustainable business growth.

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will report directly to the CEO and be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. This is a hands-on executive role responsible for overseeing operations across all business units, including aged care and disability services, and ensuring alignment between operational performance and strategic objectives.

The COO will implement accountability frameworks, drive operational efficiency, optimise Microsoft 365 and business systems, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver measurable improvements. This role requires balancing strategic oversight with practical execution while fostering a positive, collaborative culture.

Key focus areas include continuous improvement initiatives, operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and adoption of best practices for scalable growth. The COO will work closely with the CFO to manage budgets, track financial performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as NDIS, My Aged Care, and Child Safety legislation.

Additionally, the COO will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisational culture by mentoring senior managers, promoting leadership development, and ensuring alignment across all teams. They will act as a catalyst for innovation, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, implement technology-driven solutions, and enhance service delivery. This role requires a leader who can translate strategic vision into actionable plans while maintaining a strong focus on the people, processes, and systems that underpin sustainable growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across all business units, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and consistency
  • Develop and implement accountability frameworks, operational processes, and performance metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and scale operations
  • Optimise Microsoft 365 and other business systems to streamline workflows and reporting.
  • Monitor KPIs, analyse performance, and provide support to operational leaders.
  • Mentor and develop senior managers and operational teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Partner with the Executive Team to align operational strategy with growth objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks while ensuring compliance with sector regulations.
  • Promote organisational culture, values, and employee engagement across all levels

The Person

The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen with high emotional intelligence, enabling them to drive growth while maintaining a people-first approach. They are commercially curious, ambitious, and eager to explore innovative opportunities that enhance profitability and ensure long-term success.

They bring proven operational leadership experience in health, disability, aged care, or community services, having managed multiple business units and service areas. They possess a deep understanding of compliance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and sector standards, and have expertise in implementing and optimising business systems and operational processes.

The candidate is a strategic thinker with hands-on execution capabilities, able to identify emerging trends, adapt to market changes, and make data-driven decisions that support sustainable expansion. Exceptional team leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills allow them to engage and influence across all levels, fostering collaboration, alignment, and a high-performance culture.

They are resilient, adaptable, and capable of driving accountability, performance, and operational excellence in a people-focused environment. With a commercial edge and strong focus on organisational culture, they inspire trust, promote innovation, and create an environment where employees feel valued and empowered to contribute fully to Tea-Cup Cottage's success.
