About us

Founded in 2013, Fieldwork is an award-winning multidisciplinary practice based in Melbourne and Adelaide providing advisory, master planning, architecture and interior design services for the built environment. Our team of over 40 practitioners bring expertise from diverse backgrounds across architecture, interior design, finance, development, urbanism, marketing and publishing.

With the upcoming retirement of our Financial Controller, Andrew Coates, at the end of March 2026, Fieldwork is advertising for a new Finance Manager to leverage the strong foundation which Andrew has built and help drive the next phase of growth for the business. 

The Role

Working closely with the Directors and Management Team, you will ensure the commercial success of the practice through the strategy, planning, execution and management of the following responsibilities:

  • Prepares annual budget
  • Prepares monthly finance report and chairs monthly finance meeting
  • Prepares and manages cash flow budgeting
  • Manages and updates revenue forecast model and reports on budget v actual
  • Prepares and issues invoicing
  • Identifies risk and advises how to mitigate
  • Manages project management system BQE Core
  • Manages monthly WIP reporting and project P&L reports
  • Prepares subconsultant contracts
  • Manages subconsultant budgets and progress claims
  • Liaising with external accountants and lawyers
  • Ensuring operational excellence
  • Review of the payroll, accounts payable and debtor collection (managed by Accountant)
  • Supporting new business activities
  • Participating in the entrepreneurial ventures of Fieldwork
  • Enhancement of existing systems

The successful candidate

The individual will be CA /or CPA qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience. Experience operating as Senior Project Accountant and/or Finance Manager in an architecture, engineering or construction firm is required. A team player, you will understand the importance of fostering a high performing and supportive culture and you will contribute ideas and experience to drive our success in the future.
