Murray Local Land Services (Murray LLS) supports landholders and communities across the mid-southern border of NSW, focusing on agricultural productivity, biosecurity, natural resource management, and emergency response. The region spans from Khancoban to Moulamein and Moama, encompassing diverse landscapes from irrigated farmland to nationally significant wetlands along the Murray River. Murray LLS works closely with farmers, Aboriginal communities, and local groups to manage invasive species, protect native biodiversity, and improve land and water health. With a strong presence in livestock, cropping, and horticulture industries, the team delivers practical, locally tailored services to build resilient, sustainable landscapes and enterprises.
About The Role
Team Lead Invasive Species, Plant Health & Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR) role is responsible for leading a team of biosecurity professionals in the operational delivery of pest animal programs, travelling stock reserve management, plant biosecurity and emergency responses across the Murray region.
Specific Deliverables Include
- Oversee core services budget and work with other teams to deliver invasive species programs
- Leading our regional strategic plans development and implementation for pest animals and high priority weeds in the Murray region.
- Engaging a geographically dispersed and technically skilled team to implement pest animal, TSR work and weed control programs in partnership with landholders and other stakeholders
- Applying continual improvement strategies to drive innovation and change into control programs to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
About You
Our ideal candidate will be customer focused, be able to deliver results and coordinate a range of projects and associated responsibilities. Your ability to inspire direction and purpose in your team and recognise achievements will be an asset.
What you need to do this role;
- Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the primary industries portfolio and/or equivalent experience in leadership and management of services to primary industries
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive change and lead teams toward effective, innovative outcomes
- Proven experience in program-level strategy development, operational planning, and budget management
- Demonstrated understanding of the economic and environmental impacts of pest animals and weeds on land use
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills to support delivery of biosecurity and invasive species control programs
- Appropriate qualifications and experience relevant to pesticide application
- Capacity to hold a NSW firearms licence and a Statement of Attainment in the safe and humane use of firearms (AQF units AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304)
- Eligibility and willingness to become an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act 2015
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or the ability to successfully complete the qualification
- Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the region
