Due to continued project growth, we are seeking a Structural Draftsperson to join our team and support the delivery of detailed design and documentation on a range of projects.

About the Role

The Structural Draftsperson will work under the direction of the project engineer to prepare detailed structural drawings and documentation for design approval, building permits and shop fabrication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Prepare and complete 2D and 3D structural drawings, plans, elevations and sections using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and related drafting software.
• Create detailed drawings of structural components and their connections in steel, concrete and other structural materials.
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications and calculations to produce accurate construction and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare layout drawings for foundations, slabs, beams, columns, frames and other structural elements in accordance with Australian standards.
• Apply manual and computer-aided dafting techniques with a sound working knowledge of drafting terms, procedures and conventions (including AS 1100).
• Perform document control using drawing management / information systems to ensure that completed and working drawings are correctly registered, updated and filed.
• Resolve checked drawings and check drawings for accuracy, consistency and completeness before issue.
• Coordinate with engineers and other technical staff to clarify design requirements and resolve drafting issues as they arise.
• Ensure all documentation complies with Australian Standards and company drafting procedures.

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Engineering, Structural Engineering or Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a structural drafting role in consulting, construction or a related environment.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and experience using Autodesk Inventor for drafting and detailing; experience with Autodesk Revit will be highly regarded.
• Good knowledge of Australian drafting standards (AS 1100), technical standards, building codes and typical structural detailing practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches and specifications with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office and general document management.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under the direction of a project supervisor while managing deadlines across multiple projects.
