At ACTWELL, we're looking for a motivated Trainer and Program Support Officer to deliver engaging courses while assisting with scheduling, resources, and compliance, the perfect mix of hands-on training and operational support.

Location:
Fyshwick (ACT), with travel within the ACT and surrounding areas as required. Flexible work-from-home arrangements may be approved based on operational needs.

Scope:
Training delivery and administrative role, dependent on operational requirements

Employment Type:
Full-time or Part-time (3 or more days per week)

Remuneration


• Base Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications, experience, and employment status, full-time or part-time)


• Superannuation: 12%


• Total Package: Base Salary + Superannuation


• KPI/OKR and incentive-based bonuses to be implemented under 2025/2026 performance development agreements.

Role Overview

The Trainer and Program Support Officer (First Aid) plays a key role in delivering high-quality first aid training and supporting the day-to-day operations of ACTWELL's training programs. This blended role combines hands-on training delivery with administrative and logistical support to ensure that courses run smoothly, equipment is maintained, and learners receive an engaging, professional experience. The role suits a trainer who enjoys working both in the classroom and behind the scenes, helping to improve training systems, ensure compliance, and support a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Training Delivery


• Deliver accredited and non-accredited first aid courses in accordance with ACTWELL's standards and compliance requirements.


• Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports all students, including those with English as a second language.


• Use innovative training methods to enhance learner participation and understanding.


• Ensure assessment practices meet compliance and quality standards.


• Gather and provide feedback from students to support continuous improvement of training materials and delivery.

Program and Operational Support


• Support the Training and Delivery Manager with scheduling, course setup, and coordination of resources.


• Assist with ordering and maintaining training consumables to ensure all courses are well stocked and prepared.


• Maintain and check training equipment regularly, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with ACTWELL maintenance schedules.


• Participate in the development and review of course materials to ensure content remains current, relevant, and compliant.


• Contribute ideas for new or improved training programs to support ACTWELL's growth.


• Help streamline administrative processes to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency across the training team.

Professional Development & Team Collaboration

Actively participate in professional development sessions focused on:

·       Engaging diverse learner groups.

·       Effective classroom management and presentation skills.

·       Meeting professional development and compliance targets by April 2026.

·       Support new trainers through informal mentoring, sharing resources, and demonstrating ACTWELL's training standards.

·       Communicate effectively with colleagues and management through ACTWELL's internal platforms (e.g. Slack, Gmail).

·       Participate in team meetings, debriefs, and feedback sessions to improve training quality and consistency.

Reporting and Administration


• Complete training reports, attendance records, and compliance documentation accurately and on time.


• Assist with weekly and monthly updates to track equipment, resources, and professional development progress.


• Provide input into continuous improvement discussions, SOP reviews, and delivery evaluations.


• Support the collection of data and feedback for performance reporting and quality assurance.

Mandatory Experience & Qualifications


• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or the ability to obtain.


• Recent, hands-on experience in an Emergency Services discipline with a mandatory minimum of 2 years equivalent full-time, such as Paramedicine, Fire & Rescue, Nursing, Combat Medicine, Police, or closely related discipline providing time-critical patient care or incident response.


• Demonstrated experience delivering first aid or vocational training.


• Current First Aid/CPR currency (or willingness to obtain/refresh prior to start).

Note: Equivalent military or volunteer emergency service experience (e.g. RFS/SES is recognised where duties align with the above scope.

Work Environment & Tools


• Combination of classroom, office, and occasional field-based work.


• Regular travel within ACT and surrounding regions for course delivery.


• Proficiency, or the ability to develop proficiency, in scheduling and administration systems (Training Desk, When I Work).


• Proficiency, or the ability to develop proficiency, in communication and quality systems (Slack, Gmail, ).


• Involvement in equipment maintenance and compliance checks as part of team operations.
