Director of Teaching and Learning (P-12)
Applications Close: Friday 24 October 2025
Commencement Date: Monday 19 January 2026
Who We Are
We have a glorious task here at Covenant Christian School of bringing the Gospel truth, as revealed in the Bible, to every aspect of student education. We do this because we know that Christ is supreme in all things (Colossians 1:15-17), including the academic, sporting, creative and cultural spheres, whilst ensuring the love, care and wellbeing of all our Community. It is our prayerful hope that every student who enters our care will understand that they are known and loved deeply by the Lord, and that a genuine relationship of faith will be evident in their life, not simply at school, but for all of life. Whilst we seek to do all things with rigor, our barometer for student success will be shown in faithful service of the Lord using the gifts he has given for his glory. Over 45 years committed to the same Vision and Mission Covenant Christian School was founded over 40 years ago by Christian parents who passionately believed that parents are responsible for bringing up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Their vision was a school that provided a comprehensive education, taught to a high standard by Christian teachers, in which Christ was recognised as Lord of all. This education was not only to prepare the students for future study or work, but for life itself. Today, this vision lives on through a dedicated Board, School Association, staff and community, united in this original Vision and Mission.
Vision To faithfully serve in God's plan to restore all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Mission To assist parents in the nurture of their children, by providing a Christ-centred, biblically grounded, culturally engaging and academically rigorous education to equip the children to live for God's glory. Who You Are As Director of Teaching and Learning (DoTaL), you will be responsible for ensuring that quality teaching and learning from a Christian perspective are in place throughout the school in relation to this significant area. This will require you to research, develop, advise, train, implement and report on teaching and learning (T&L) initiatives across Years P to 12, in line with the school's Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan. You will advise the Principal of T&L issues affecting the school and develop response initiatives for the Principal to consider that will lift the effectiveness of T&L practice. In so doing, you will provide major input to the school's Strategic Plan, as you seek to future equip the school in all aspects of T&L. You will develop and manage projects within the T&L space, working with Heads of School (HoS), Coordinators and staff, and will ensure that associated policies and processes are developed and adhered to. Reporting directly to the Principal, you will initiate, coordinate and oversee the professional development of teaching staff and shape their pedagogical approaches. You will help them ensure that a biblical worldview permeates the school's T&L practices. You will seek to promote good teaching practices and challenge poor teaching. You will have specific responsibility for Learning Support and Extension & Enrichment Coordinators.
