  • Administrative Officer (Ward Admin) - Mental Health Division, Repat Campus Heidelberg and other sites as required

About the department

The Mental Health Division forms part of Austin Health. It provides a comprehensive range of child, adolescent, youth and adult mental health services to the areas of northeast metro Melbourne along with inter-regional and statewide specialist services, which are provided on both an inpatient basis and in community settings. The Mental Health Division is strongly committed to providing recovery-oriented services by providing holistic, compassionate care and offering partnership in recovery. 

Our Youth Prevention and Recovery Care Centre is located on Waterdale Road, Heidelberg. This brand new, state of the art facility provides an alternative to hospitalisation for young people experiencing mental health challenges, with tailored support for our consumers to achieve sustained, long term mental health recovery. With capacity for 10 residents, it features communal kitchen, dining and living areas with breakout spaces as well as outdoor garden areas. A place for young people to access treatment and care close to their families and loved ones.

About the role 

As the Administrative Officer you will play an important role in creating a professional, positive image for the Mental Health Division. This is a front-facing role that regularly contacts and interacts with service consumers (patients, families, carers, and visitors) as well as other key stakeholders.

You will provide professional, high-quality customer service, support administrative operations, and maintain a professional and welcoming environment ensuring our clients, carers and visitors feel valued and supported.

About you 

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • Exceptional face-to-face, phone and written communication skills, including discretion and confidentiality with sensitive matters
  • Extensive experience in the provision of administrative support and reception services to support a team of multi-disciplinary professionals
  • Advanced computer literacy and keyboard skills, and highly proficient working knowledge in information technology systems and applications utilised by Austin Health (Microsoft Office 365, search engines, databases, risk operating systems, ordering platforms)
  • High level organisational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise work in a busy environment so that all tasks are completed in required timeframes while meeting strict quality standards
