We're looking for a high-impact Business Development Manager to lead national growth across our Furniture division, with a sharp focus on securing large-scale tenders and projects in the education and defence sectors.

This role is ideal for a commercially focused professional ready to step into a national role—driving engagement with key accounts, influencing procurement decisions, and working closely with regional sales teams to grow market share and product adoption.

While we are accepting applicants nationally, the role will have a strong connection to our Kewdale Head Office.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, you will lead national business development initiatives in the furniture category, targeting high-value opportunities across government, education, and institutional markets. You'll build strong pipelines, engage stakeholders across the procurement lifecycle, and ensure the successful execution of project sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Project Wins

  • Identify, pursue, and secure major tenders and project contracts, with a strong focus on the education and defense sectors.
  • Build relationships with procurement managers, architects, project consultants, and key institutional decision-makers.
  • Manage the complete sales lifecycle from early engagement through to contract award.

Key Account & Sales Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with existing national and strategic accounts to identify growth opportunities and increase category penetration.
  • Collaborate with regional sales teams to execute aligned growth plans, support local opportunities, and drive performance.
  • Represent the national commercial voice across customer engagements, from head office relationships to on-ground site support.

Sector Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with the unique needs of the education and defense sectors, including long-lead project planning and cyclical tender cycles.
  • Provide market feedback and customer insights to influence product development and service improvements.

Pipeline, Reporting & Performance

  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date project pipeline, including active pursuits, tenders in progress, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Deliver regular reporting on performance metrics, conversion rates, and revenue forecasts.
  • Meet and exceed national sales and project win KPIs.

Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years' experience in business development, project sales, or key account management, ideally within furniture, interiors, or workplace solutions.
  • Proven track record in winning and delivering large-scale tenders and contracts, particularly in education, defence, or government.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience influencing procurement, facilities, and senior leadership teams.
  • Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and a solutions-based approach to complex customer needs.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills—comfortable operating across national and regional teams.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia are essential for this position.
