Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.

SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.

Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.

As a Health and Safety Advisor- Risk & Assurance, you are expected to:

  • Contribute to construction risk assessment workshops
  • Contribute to delivery of the health and safety audit and assurance plan
  • Perform a range of health and safety assurance activities in the field including audits, inspections, and operator competency reviews
  • Review construction work planning and ensure methods and controls are being delivered in the field ss planned
  • Support of the health and safety of our construction subcontractors through facilitating kick off meetings, assurance activities, communications, and performance monitoring.
  • Contribute to identifying innovative solutions to improve health and safety performance and mitigate risk
  • Maintain and ensure the data integrity of a project health and safety risk and data library to help inform future planning and risk assessments
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the project's management plan and project management system documentation
  • Any other health and safety duties as required to ensure efficient and safe delivery of the project.

Key Skills/Requirements:

  • Health and safety qualified
  • Experience with construction risks and risk workshops
  • Auditing experience; Lead Auditor (preferred)
  • Experience within a Tier 1 or 2 company and the management of subcontractors
  • Data literate with good analytical skills
  • Proficient with technology and digital systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Client liaison and interface skills
