NDIS Support Workers – Ipswich

CSBS Group is seeking experienced Support Workers to provide Mental Health and Disability supports for participants in the Ipswich region.

We are seeking mature applicants who are highly confident in providing supports to Participants with complex disabilities, mental health diagnoses and are fit and able to undertake manual handling requirements.

Shifts will be commencing at 3-6 hours per day, and increasing up to 9 hour per day, once rapport and trust is obtained.

About you

You communicate clearly, respectfully and are skilled in building rapport and trust. You are physically capable to perform manual handling tasks and keep calm under pressure.

You will need to be comfortable to work collaboratively with Participants family members and respect each Participants autonomy. It is highly desirable you enjoy cooking, gaming and arts and crafts.

Due to the specific needs of the Participants, who may experience PTSD-related triggers, it is important that support workers communicate in a calm, patient, and gentle manner. Applicants with a strong accent, rapid speech, or a highly direct/impatient communication style may not be a suitable match to provide effective support.

Confidence and experience in supporting people the below is essential:

·       Depression and Anxiety

·       Schizophrenia

·       Acquired Brain Injury

·       Intellectual Disability

·       Parkinsonism

·       Mealtime management

·       Epilepsy

A tertiary qualification, ideally with a minimum Certificate III level in Disability or Aged Care, would be considered highly desirable. Applicants with a nursing background are encouraged to apply.

Relevant probity items required

·       a Positive Notice Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check, or the ability to obtain the latter

·       a Positive Notice - Blue Card

·       an Open Queensland Driver's Licence

·       a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance

·       a current First Aid & CPR Certificate

·       a reliable smartphone with data

·       completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You'.
