As a Cybersecurity Operations Analyst at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a crucial role in defending the institution's digital assets and research data. You'll be at the forefront of threat detection and incident response, working with advanced security tools to protect a diverse and complex IT environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Threat Monitoring: Conduct monitoring and analysis of security events across university systems.
  • Incident Response: Investigate and resolve sophisticated cybersecurity incidents, from detection to resolution.
  • Process Execution: Carry out and improve detection and response playbooks, ensuring comprehensive security coverage.
  • Critical Issue Management: Quickly assess and escalate high-priority security threats, coordinating rapid response efforts.

You are an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background in operational security, possessing excellent analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

You may also:

  • Hold university qualifications in cybersecurity, IT, or a related field.
  • Have experience working in an operational security setting e.g. SOC, DFIR.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of threat detection and incident response procedures.
  • Have experience handling complex security incidents from end-to-end in large organizations.
  • Possess strong documentation and reporting skills for clear stakeholder communication.
  • Show a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration in a team environment.
