Role Type: part time (0.8 FTE/4 days per week)

Salary: $105,000 p.a plus super (pro rata)

The opportunity:

The Risk Analyst role works with the Head of Risk (who is also the CFO) to facilitate an effective risk management programme across the institute and VCGS. This includes working with researchers and non-researchers to support them in identifying, assessing, actioning and communicating about their risks. The Risk Analyst will liaise with various risk-based functions such as health and safety, cyber security, research integrity and others to help maintain a full understanding of material risks and opportunities and how they are being effectively managed across the MCRI Group. The role will also support the co-ordination of the annual internal audit program and preparation of audit and risk related reporting for the Institute's Audit, Finance & Risk Committee (AFRC).

More research time and better resources allows our researchers to be best placed to continue to make discoveries to improve the health and wellbeing of children.

Your responsibilities include:

Work with nominated risk owners across the MCRI Group to maintain the Enterprise Risk Register(s) (ERR)

Support risk related functional teams across the institute who typically lead risk assessments (i.e. EHS, Integrity, IT/Cyber)

Help prepare risk reports for the MCRI Audit, Finance & Risk Committee (AFRC)

Liaise with internal auditors in the development of risk-based audit plans

Track status/completion of audit actions arising from Internal Audit reviews (both independent external and internal reviews)

Liaise with the Global Health team to support achievement of DFAT accreditation and effective risk management across global health operations

What we need from you:

Proven stakeholder relationship management – ability to build relationships across a wide cross section of people based upon trust and a can-do attitude

Experience working in, or understanding of the Medical Research sector or the For Purpose/Not For Profit sector and Academia (desirable, not mandatory)

A basic understanding of modern-day risk management (support and training will be provided to those whose career has focused on research or health care skills)

Reliable team member with the skills to set, communicate and manage expectations

A relevant university degree is desired (not mandatory)
