Council has an amazing opportunity for a qualified and suitably experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their highly skilled and friendly Digital and Technology team for six months.

Reporting to the Coordinator Technology Operations, the Senior Systems Administrator will play a critical role in supporting and improving Council's IT infrastructure, data platforms, and business systems. As a senior member of a small and agile IT team, you'll provide expert technical support, help drive digital transformation and contribute to the reliable delivery of high-quality services for both staff and the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Systems Support & Maintenance – Supporting and maintaining core business systems (ERP, CRM, SharePoint, EDRMS, Intranet, HRIS) through second-level support, system configuration, and regular maintenance activities. You'll work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and implement enhancements that improve operational efficiency.
  • Data & Integration Services – Administering SQL Server databases; developing data queries, reports, and dashboards using Power BI and SSRS; and maintaining data transformation and integration processes using SSIS and FME. Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, T-SQL, DAX, JavaScript, VB) are essential.
  • Project Delivery & Collaboration – Contributing to the planning and successful delivery of IT projects, ensuring outcomes meet agreed quality, cost, and timeline expectations. You'll engage with staff, vendors, and subject matter experts to implement practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Infrastructure & Continuity – Assisting in the development and upkeep of secure, reliable infrastructure that supports business continuity and digital service delivery across the organisation.

This is a hands-on technical role with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment and bring a service-oriented mindset to every aspect of your work.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful you will have qualifications in Business Information Systems, Data Analytics, or similar as well as some relevant experience in an IT related project management and systems administration field. You will have experience in coordinating the analysis of customer system needs, systems administration of complex databases and application development, plus excellent customer service and communication skills.
