What's the role?

We're hiring a Senior Manager to lead credit decisioning for Westpac's Diversified portfolio in NSW. You'll oversee credit quality, portfolio health, and risk controls across commercial lending, using your delegated authority to approve complex transactions and guide credit strategy.

This role sits in the second line of defence, focused on oversight- not origination and plays a key part in maintaining our credit standards and risk appetite.

You'll manage a team of credit professionals, coach and develop talent, and work closely with business stakeholders to embed strong risk culture and improve control practices. You'll also shape credit policy, monitor emerging risks, and provide senior leaders with clear insights on credit performance and portfolio trends.

This is a permanent fulltime role based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience in credit decisioning, especially in cashflow lending or commercial credit risk
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams
  • Deep understanding of credit policy, portfolio management, and regulatory standards
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment in complex, high-stakes environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical mindset and a passion for customer-focused, data-driven insights
