ROLE PURPOSEThe DC Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing and improving the operational capacity of the DCs within the remit to.
Lead all aspects of the Distribution Centre strategically and operationally through safety, service, cost and people. Manage with a Best Practice perspective and drive continuous improvement to enhance business execution and growth. Headline responsibilities include:
- Drive the strategic direction of the DC in line with company Values.
- Provide strong, visible and consistent leadership in accordance with company goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with the customer to facilitate the successful accomplishment of company objectives and performance indicators.
- Leadership excellence and accelerated capability development regarding best practices, compliance, safety, budgeting, planning and people engagement.
- Ensuring strong working relationships are maintained with Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service & Transport leadership teams.
- Actively promote a safe environment for everyone, every day by ensuring that safety initiatives are implemented and celebrating safety achievements
- Drive the site safety to culture to ensure the Zero Harm objective is lived, ensuring all team members are engaged in and actively contribute to creating a safe working environment
- Deliver the site-related aspects of the HSEQ Plan and ensure compliance with all safety and WHS policies, regulations and procedures
- Collaborate closely with national safety team, using their subject matter expertise to support site safety initiatives and the effective rollout of national programs
- Lead the Site Safety Committee and ensure it is targeted and effective
- Ensure safety observations are targeted, best practice and promote positive engagement and awareness of the key 'lifesaver' risks in particular
- Lead incident investigations, supported by the national safety team, and ensure both the quality and timeliness of investigations (and the addressing of critical corrective actions) are in line with company policy and management expectations
- Ensures contractual service KPIs and obligations are understood by the team are met at all times, through effective process controls, inventory accuracy and labour coordination
- Develop Budgets with clear performance targets and supporting commercial KPIs
- Manages and delivers the operations, labour and equipment budgets, maximising return and minimising unplanned expense
- Ensure performance reporting is timely (daily, weekly, monthly), accurate and targeted to ensure real underlying performance is continuously improving and exceeding Budget and other targets
- Proven experience in implementing process improvement and change management
- Openly collaborates with national functions and teams to draw in support to improve site performance – actively benchmarking performance against internal sites and external best practice
- Proven success in a similar leadership role
- Demonstrated "hands on" leadership experience in similar warehousing and logistics operations
- Demonstrated turnaround experience in a high volume, SKU-level pick and parcel environment
- Strong commercial acumen in budget development and finance
- Minimum Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. logistics, warehousing, supply chain) – preferred
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- WMS, labour management and TMS experience
- Strong and adaptable communication skills
- Demonstrated thought leadership ability with critical analysis and decision making skills
- Proven project management skills, commercial acumen and managing key stakeholders
- Strong influencing skills and ability to make and execute effective decisions
- Knowledge of state legislation for OH&S and Industrial Relations
