Cap and Cino's The Galeries is on the look for a chef. You will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards in food quality, consistency, and presentation. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced café setting and enjoys both the creativity and the structure of kitchen operations.

Salary: $77,000-$81,000+ Super

· Key Responsibilities and Duties:

· 1. Ensuring all food is prepared as per food preparation requirements.

· 2. Preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items.

· 3. Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to company recipes.

· 4. Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet company standards.

· 5. Preparing mise en place as required.

· 6. Storing excess food at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage.

· 7. Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas.

· 8. Assisting other cooks to ensure that food orders are completed in a timely manner.

· 9. Ensuring total compliance with all relevant requirements of the Food Safety and HACCP programs.

· 10. Ensuring all procedures are maintained to high standards ie: hygiene, overall presentation of kitchen area.

· 11. Relating, supporting and working effectively with all staff, students and volunteers.

· 12. Attending staff meetings, in-service training and pursuing own professional development requirements.

· 13. Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies

· 14. Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff

· 15. Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures

· 16. May Select and train staff

Skills and Abilities Required:

· 1. Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management

· 2. Minimum 1 Year Full Time experience in a similar position

· 3. Passion for cooking

· 4. Punctual, organised and trustworthy

· 5. Professional appearance

· 6. Ability to manage other people

· 7. Excellent communication skills

· 8. Attention to detail

· 9. Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner

· 10. Ability to solve problems and think-on-your-feet

· 11. Willingness to take initiative and make decisions

· 12. Ability to delegate tasks effectively

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $77,000.00 – $81,000.00 per year
