Macchiato is seeking to add a highly skilled Pizza chef to our Kitchen Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join our expanding team.

About the role

We are looking for an individual with the following qualities and who is able to:

  • Manage the Pizza Section
  • Meet and exceed company quality standards
  • Train and take training on dish specification and how to achieve food margins;
  • Order food stock appropriately to sales levels and avoid over-ordering;
  • Send back all supplies that do not meet quality standards and contact the relevant suppliers for correction of the trend;
  • Facilitate handover to senior managers when such communication with suppliers does not have the expected outcome;
  • Ensure that all deliveries are checked and signed for by the Head Chef or manager – where this is not possible a record must be placed onto the delivery note;
  • Prepare food for service appropriate to sales levels;
  • Control wastage and record / report all wastage;
  • Ensure that Staff Food policy is followed with no unauthorized, sub quality food leaving the kitchen;
  • Ensure that dishes are made to specification with no over portioning
  • Ensure that all stock is secure and minimise stock wastage;
  • Ensure stock rotation is followed and all store rooms, fridges and freezers are clean and in order;
  • Monitor & control stock levels – daily, weekly and monthly - avoiding shortfalls;
  • Ensure that queries and issues relating to dishes, menus and suppliers are cascaded to the GSM and senior managers;
  • Inspire & motivate the team to achieve food to specification and therefore achieve sales and profits;
  • Lead by example, setting the pace and standards within the Team;
  • Train and develop the team to deliver food to specification and therefore meet or exceed customer's expectations;
  • Communicate with the Head Chef especially during peak business;

The successful applicant will be a motivated and experienced Pizza Chef and possess the following:

  • Is an Australian Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident;
  • Has the right to work in Australia without limitations;
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Pizza Chef
  • Demonstrated Management experience
  • A team player and a supportive leader
