The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.

The Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a
Manager Floodplain Assessments
in an ongoing full-time capacity.

About You

Lead and manage technical expertise in floodplain management planning and hydraulic modelling. Provide technical expertise regarding water-related planning processes and projects to maintain public confidence and understanding by water users and the community of the principles, policies and statutory framework for access to floodplain water and resources.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead complex technical assessments to inform water licensing, policy, and legislative development for floodplain management.
  • Oversee floodplain modelling, spatial analysis, and eco-hydrologic assessments, ensuring high-quality and coordinated outcomes.
  • Lead a specialist technical team with a focus on delivery and supportive, positive culture.
  • Provide expert advice, reports, and briefings to support transparent, accountable decision-making and maintain public confidence.
  • Build strong relationships with industry, community, government, and research partners to share knowledge, deliver best practice, and reduce regulatory barriers.
  • Contribute to community and stakeholder education by developing clear information and guidance materials.
