Terra Verde is a joint venture between Webuild, GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) Australia, and Bouygues Construction Australia.

The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.

Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.

This is the largest infrastructure project in Victoria's history, shaping Melbourne and Victoria for future generations.

About the Role:

We are seeking an Environmental Lead join our Land, Planning, and Environment team. In this role, you will contribute to the success of the SRL Tunnels North Project by helping to achieve its goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead environmental management and compliance at project sites, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 EMS and Terra Verde JV requirements.
• Manage and coordinate Environmental Advisors and Coordinators across all project sites for consistency in standards, reporting, and culture.
• Support development and implementation of environmental risk assessments, EMS processes, and management plans (WEMPs, CEMP, EPR).
• Oversee EMS procedures on-site (e.g., permits, inspections) and ensure consistent application across all sites.
• Act as the primary contact for construction teams on environmental matters, communicating risks and compliance requirements.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks, escalating significant issues as needed.
• Manage environmental subcontractors (e.g., water monitoring, ecology, noise) and coordinate specialist support.
• Assist with audits (including IEA) and ensure findings are addressed project-wide.
• Track and close environmental actions, observations, NCRs, and approval conditions.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance objectives and standards.
• Deliver environmental training and awareness to build capability and compliance understanding.
• Collaborate with Approvals and specialist teams to maintain current and compliant site approvals.
• Ensure environmental monitoring meets management plan and regulatory obligations.
• Promote proactive environmental stewardship and continuous improvement across the project.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience in environmental management in construction
• Effective communication at all levels of a Project
• Experience in managing data/information in preparation for audits.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in environmental management, science, sustainability, engineering, or similar
• Knowledge of current and emerging sustainability rating systems (desirable)
• Practical knowledge of ISO 14001 management systems.
• Basic proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and email software.
• Full driver's license and white card.

Skills and Attributes:

• Experience with major infrastructure projects, ideally in Melbourne, Victoria.
• Proficiency in document and records management, including compliance and archiving. Environmental performance and compliance reporting.
• Confidence in delivering training and facilitating workshops on environmental topics.
• Understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation, including the General Environmental Duty.
• Strong time management and prioritization skills.
• Effective communication and the ability to influence project outcomes.
