What's the role? 

As Head of Credit, PNG, you'll lead the credit risk function for one of the most strategically important markets in the Westpac Pacific portfolio. Based in Port Moresby, you'll oversee credit decisions across retail, commercial, corporate, and treasury segment, ensuring the portfolio remains strong, resilient, and aligned with our risk appetite. 

You'll lead a team of credit professionals, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in sound judgement, collaboration, and continuous development. Reporting to the Head of Risk, PNG, you'll also play a key role in the PNG Extended Leadership Team, contributing to business strategy, regulatory engagement, and enterprise-wide risk governance. 

This is a full-time, senior leadership role with significant influence and visibility across the business. You'll be empowered to shape credit strategy, drive portfolio quality, and lead with purpose in a fast-evolving market. 

What do I need? 

To thrive in this role, you'll bring a rare combination of strategic thinking, deep credit expertise, and people leadership. You're someone who can see the big picture while staying close to the detail, balancing commercial outcomes with sound risk management. You'll be confident engaging at executive level, and just as comfortable mentoring analysts or navigating regulatory conversations.

• Proven leadership experience in credit risk, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams. 

• Deep expertise in credit assessment and structuring across consumer, commercial, and institutional segments. 

• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align credit decisions with broader business and market objectives. 

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across senior leadership, regulators, and cross-functional teams. 

• A commitment to maintaining a strong risk culture and control environment, with a focus on early problem recognition and proactive portfolio management.
