Tai Chi Instructor – Brighton Recreational Centre (Bayside, VIC)

BRC is seeking an experienced Tai Chi instructor to teach regular Friday 9.30am Tai Chi class, predominantly to an older adult participant group. We are willing to explore other timeslots if this class time and day do not work for the successful candidate, as we are keen to add an additional Tai Chi class to the current timetable. Class sizes are small, usually between 10 to 15 and are held inside in a clean and welcoming environment.  Classes are 50 minutes in length, and instructors are compensated for the full hour. The ideal candidate must be:

  • Experienced in teaching Tai Chi to new and experienced participants
  • Holds professional qualifications in Tai Chi principles
  • Professional, friendly, encouraging and understands the needs of older adult members
  • Reliable, punctual and arrive to class 10 mins early
  • Sign in all participants to the class
  • Reports all incidents and injuries as per BRC policy and procedures
  • Hold a Working with Children check (volunteer WWC is acceptable)
  • Willing to undergo a Police Check – BRC will cover this cost
  • Up to date with CPR and First Aid certificates
  • Willing to provide a professional reference upon request

Description:   Brighton Recreational Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation that has served the Bayside area since Together with our partners, we provide recreational, educational and sporting activities to reflect the needs of all age groups in the local community. The centre operates under a lease agreement with the Bayside City Council and is a member of the Bayside cluster of community centres. The Centre offers a number of programs including gymnastics, pottery, art, fitness and wellness classes, holiday programs, birthday parties and a range of other children's programs and services.

Salary to be negotiated with the preferred candidate.

Location:  BRC is located at 93 Outer Crescent, Brighton VIC 3186.
