Job Description**
Karratha is one of the largest and fastest growing towns in the north of Western Australia and is the heart of the West Pilbara Coast. Its location makes it an ideal base for exploring the Millstream Chichester National Park, Karijini National Park, Murujuga National Park, Dampier Archipelago, Point Samson and the Montebello Islands.
We are currently seeking a Conservation Operations Officer to join our team.
Under the general supervision of the Regional Leader Conservation, this position:
- Assists with the implementation and reporting requirements of the Pilbara Regional Conservation Plan.
- Assists with the development and implementation of the conservation annual works program.
- Participates in providing technical support to the conservation program in the Pilbara Region in relation to the threatened flora and fauna species recovery programs associated with reserves including those in joint management.
- Plans and implements surveys and mapping for threatened and priority fauna and flora.
- Contributes to the development and ongoing maintenance of regional conservation information and data management systems.
- Liaises with Joint Management partners, Aboriginal and other community groups, stakeholders, government agencies, Industry, consultants and contractors engaged to provide services and goods to facilitate project works.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience of threatening processes, flora and fauna conservation and management, with a preference for someone with knowledge of the biodiversity values of the Pilbara.
- Demonstrated experience in a broad range of flora and fauna survey and monitoring techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in collating and analysing data, managing datasets, and using computer skills for report writing, spreadsheets and creating databases, integrated with GIS applications for landscape mapping.
- Willing and able to undertake field trips, possessing organisational skills relevant to undertaking field trips, plus ability to train and supervise Aboriginal rangers, volunteers and staff in field situations.
- An ability and willingness to work with Traditional Owners to deliver Native Title aspirations and goals through joint management, cooperation, or collaborative arrangements.
