The City of Subiaco is in a period of significant growth, with new residential developments, refreshed main streets and public spaces, and an expanding mix of retail, dining, culture and recreation. We are working closely with the community, businesses and partners to guide this change while maintaining Subiaco's heritage, character and identity. The City is currently looking for a Human Resources Officer on a permanent full-time basis, who will contribute to the development of human resources related initiatives and support continuous improvement of the delivery of human resources services while upholding and consistently demonstrating the City's values of Supportive, United, Bold and Impactful.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Work with colleagues to devise and implement recruitment strategies to attract suitable qualified staff.
  • Undertake the internal recruitment process including advertising, handling candidate enquiries, organising interviews and assisting with selection reports.
  • Facilitate the collection of pre-employment paperwork and prepare employment contracts.
  • Work with colleagues to develop and maintain a learning matrix in alignment with desired operational capabilities and staff career development needs.
  • Assist with organising and delivering human resources inductions for new staff.
  • Monitor, administer and advise on all aspects of the employee lifecycle including, but not limited to: Probation periods, contract variations, performance reviews, employee recognition and resignations.
  • Assist with general human resources related correspondence.
  • Identify, recommend and assist with the implementation of improvements to HR processes and systems.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of HR projects.

Essential criteria:

  • Experience in administering human resources processes including recruitment.
  • Excellent internal customer service and continuous improvement ethos.
  • Sound knowledge of human resources legislation and the ability to ensure compliance in the conduct of human resources process.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to remain impartial and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to identify and assist with the implementation of improvements to policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Well-developed ability to use corporate computer systems.
  • Relevant human resources qualifications are highly desirable.

Salary package:

In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025,this position is classified as a Level 5. The salary range is $86,452.08 to $96,200 per annum, exclusive of superannuation
