About the role
We are currently seeking three
experienced and motivated Regulatory Officers to join the Information and
Privacy Commission NSW (IPC). As a Regulatory Officer at the IPC, you will play
a key role in ensuring compliance with legislation administered by the IPC. You
will manage both proactive and reactive regulatory tasks, utilising
problem-solving, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution skills to
resolve issues efficiently. Your work will include conducting audits,
regulatory initiatives, and case management of reviews and complaints,
supported by data analysis and research, with a focus on promoting systemic
compliance through education and guidance.
Your key accountabilities include:
- Plan, prioritise and manage a caseload of files to achieve high-quality outcomes while maintaining key relationships and providing responsive customer service.
- Conduct regulatory work including information collection, research, document review, legislative interpretation, issue identification, problem-solving, alternative dispute resolution, and report preparation.
- Communicate effectively with agencies and the public, providing guidance on legislative interpretation and undertaking informal resolution of complaints where appropriate.
- Monitor and report on agency compliance, identify systemic or significant non-compliance issues, and contribute to process and service delivery improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, policy, and operational procedures, ensuring accuracy and integrity of case management and records.
About you
You are an analytical, proactive, and
collaborative professional with experience in regulatory or investigative
roles. You excel at managing a high-volume caseload, prioritising work, and
communicating complex information clearly. You are confident in applying
legislation, guiding stakeholders, and resolving issues through negotiation and
problem-solving.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in law, investigations, or regulatory functions.
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory activities, investigations, auditing, or proactive compliance initiatives informed by data analysis.
- Strong policy, research, and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex information and present clear recommendations.
- Proven project management experience, delivering initiatives and guidance for diverse stakeholders.
