About the role
The Veterinary Officer is responsible for providing independent regulatory veterinary services at greyhound racing tracks across NSW. You will ensure that greyhounds are physically fit to race, treat any racing injuries promptly and appropriately, and provide expert advice to ensure compliance with welfare standards in the greyhound racing industry.
You will act as an On-Track Veterinarian (OTV) during race meetings, assessing the health and fitness of greyhounds before and after races, and managing any injuries in line with best practice. As a key player in the regulatory framework, you will collaborate with Stewards and industry stakeholders to continuously improve welfare outcomes for racing greyhounds.
About You
You are a dedicated veterinary professional with a strong commitment to animal welfare. You have a solid understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding greyhound racing and are capable of making independent decisions in high-pressure environments to ensure the welfare of racing animals.
You are proactive, well-organised, and have a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders, including Stewards, trainers, and industry representatives. You are committed to continuous professional development and ensuring the highest standards of care for racing greyhounds.
