About the Role

As Technical Manager, you'll lead a skilled team delivering a wide range of laboratory services. You'll be responsible for day-to-day management of people, processes, and performance — driving operational efficiency, maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, biosafety, and WHS requirements.

This role blends technical leadership, strategic oversight, and people management, offering the opportunity to shape the success and innovation of our laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage laboratory services across Specimen Reception, Histology, and Technical Operations.
  • Provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance, Quality Assurance, and WHS.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
  • Ensure biosafety and WHS compliance across diverse laboratory environments.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team including staff, contractors, and research partners.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.

About You

You're an organised, proactive professional who thrives in complex technical environments. You combine deep laboratory expertise with the ability to lead people, streamline operations, and ensure rigorous compliance. Most importantly, you bring passion and purpose to supporting excellence in diagnostic and research outcomes. Demonstrated leadership experience in laboratory operations would allow you to excel in this role.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications in accordance with Part 2(xvii) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award, and leadership experience.
