The role

We're looking for a Geospatial Technical Specialist to join our Digital Information Office and play a pivotal role in supporting and improving the Department's geospatial applications. This is an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge to deliver smarter solutions, streamline processes, and ensure our systems meet the needs of both the organisation and the community.

In this role, you'll act as the go-to technical contact for geospatial applications—providing expert support, troubleshooting issues, and advising on solution design. You'll also lead deployments into controlled environments, contribute to new GIS projects, and work with both internal teams and external providers to ensure high-quality, secure, and user-focused outcomes.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in the application of GIS and related systems.
  • Experience providing technical advice, solution design input, and application deployment support.
  • Proven ability to manage geospatial applications, including incident escalation, testing, and system improvements.
  • A problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance operational needs and project delivery.
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Awareness of cyber security responsibilities and a commitment to secure digital practices.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Relevant field and/or equivalent knowledge and substantial experience in the IT and /or geospatial industry.
