Couch Potato Restaurant is seeking skilled and dedicated Kitchen Hands and Cooks to join our dynamic team. As a popular establishment known for our delectable comfort food, we are committed to providing our guests with exceptional dining experiences. If you are a motivated individual with a passion for the cooking and a strong work ethic, we invite you to apply for this position. Approx 20 hrs per week. Our restaurant opens 5:30pm and closes latest by 9:30pm, dinner trade only.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • Support the kitchen team by ensuring a smooth workflow during service
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards to guarantee the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Collaborate with the chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation
  • Contribute to maintaining inventory levels and alerting the kitchen manager of any shortages or issues
  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Availability to work weekend evenings is essential for this position
  • Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the kitchen team
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
