About The Role
Based in the Mater Mental Health Centre at Waratah, the Mental Health Flow Manager is responsible for the allocation of acute mental health beds across Hunter New England Local Health District. On any given day, you will be managing the patient flow team to allocate beds accordingly, checking staffing levels are adequate, attending daily huddles with the Nurse Unit Managers across the district and liaising with the vacancy management team to ensure patient flow is appropriate. This role works on a 7-day rotating roster and is predominately after hours, so you will also be leading code blacks and other incidents within the unit as they present. You won't be working alone. You'll be supported by the Senior Nurse Manager of Operations and will work closely with your fellow leadership team. A thorough orientation process will be offered to the successful candidate including buddying up with other managers, and there is always executives on call for additional support where required. As Our Next Mental Health Flow Manager, You Will

  • Have a high level of interpersonal communication skills, staying calm in high pressure situations
  • Demonstrate your skills as an experienced clinician when managing code blues and code blacks
  • Feel comfortable using different types of technology to achieve goals.
  • Be adaptable with the ability to change and move priorities as different situations arise.

Requirements

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with recent management experience in leading staff and managing mental health services, supported by a relevant tertiary management qualification and/or work experience.
