The Role Senior Accountant / Team Leader

This is not just another accounting job. This is your chance to step up and lead. You'll guide and mentor a team of accountants while providing high-level strategic advice to clients, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and value-added services every step of the way.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and review financial statements, tax returns, BAS, IAS, FBT prepared by your team
  • Mentor and train staff, building technical excellence and confidence
  • Manage workflow to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Oversee indirect tax obligations (payroll tax, workers comp, land tax)
  • Advise on complex tax matters and tax-efficient structuring (incl. property portfolios)
  • Partner with the Director on client portfolio management and strategic planning
  • Build lasting client relationships through clear communication and trusted advice
  • Stay ahead of legislative changes and implement compliance practices

What Were Looking For

We want a leader who brings:

  • CA/CPA qualification
  • 6+ years experience in public practice, with proven team management
  • Experience mentoring and reviewing junior staff
  • Strong technical expertise across accounting, tax, and compliance
  • Advanced knowledge of Xero, MYOB, APS, and cloud-based systems
  • Strategic thinking with problem-solving flair
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organisational excellence and the ability to manage competing priorities
